2022 Spring/Summer Knitting Trends?

Every year around January, one of my knitting favorite blogs called Talvi Knits updates the internet on what she feels the knitting trends will be for the year’s spring/summer season. As spring continues to creep upon us, I wanted to veer away from patterns this week and respond to what she feels the new trends will be.

1. Cropped and Boxy

I’m not entirely sure if she ordered these trends in any specific manner.. but I hate that this one is #1. The boxy long sleeve sweater in the middle is adorable. However, the puffy short sleeve sweaters are absolutely horrid. Why wear a short sleeve sweater? Kind of feels like a conundrum.

2. Florals

I think these are ADORABLE. I would place these floral sweaters above cropped and boxy sweaters any day. I can’t image the level of difficulty that comes along with knitting these sweaters, or the patience required for it. But, it certainly feels worth it considering how cute they are.

3. Lace Yokes

These might be my second favorite, falling behind the floral sweaters. The skill and dedication required for actually knitting a sweater of this capacity is admirable. My only complaint, really, is the neckline. If I were to try this out, I might go for a more narrow neckline that sits closer to the base of the neck.

4. Sleeveless Summer Tops

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I hate any sort of short sleeve or tank top sweater. I don’t hate the one pictured to the far left, but it’s still nothing special.

5. Ruffles

I LOVE ruffles. I LOVE them. It’s such a simple way to spice up any project. I’ve made a few pairs of ruffle socks previously. It takes a bit more time and patience than a flat project, like a scarf or blanket, but it’s so worth it. They make such adorable gifts.
