Hostelmates – Gertrude (who gets assaulted in the second chapter – still a bit confused by this – ask in class) and Isabel – Isabel and Gertrude seem to be younger than Tambudzai and good friends to each other
Mai Manyanga – widow/owner of Tambudzai’s new residence (which she doesn’t seem too pleased about)
Larky and Praise are the widow’s sons – and Ignore? Confused about who he is — yes, another son
